Expectation, Excerpts from “Kept in Peace, Lessons I’ve Learned from Kip”

Kip likes for me to spray him with a mixture of lavender and tea tree oils diluted with water. Then I brush his coat from head to tail. He will lie down and even let me spray his belly. He so looks forward to me doing this and asks for it often. He meows in his 'I want it now' voice. We have a special room where I do this and it is humorous to see him run and take position when he sees me reach or just thinks I'm reaching for his spray bottle or his brush. By taking position I mean running to the room and standing still in pure anticipation. He holds his head up and just waits for it to happen. If I take too long he will purr in his 'what is the problem' voice. He gets ready for the sweet smelling mist and the soothing brushing he enjoys. He gets into position; ready to bask in the physical pleasure it brings as well as in the joy of securing my full attention.

God has made promises to me. He has blessings prepared just for me and He is waiting for me to get into position. He has prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Am I sitting at the table? Am I in position to be fed or am I running around frantically telling Him how hungry I am. Am I in position? Am I waiting in expectation?

PRAYER
Lord, when I cry unto you help me to expect you to hear and to answer. Help me get into position to receive your blessing. Help me praise and thank you even before my eyes see it. Help me not to be surprised when you answer but to fully expect the answer. Thank you that you are attentive to my cry.
