My Plans

How do I grasp the meaning of sovereign?  How does that concept apply to my life?  I am now a citizen of heaven.  Jesus is my King.  Royalty is not very visible in my country as it is in other countries.  We have no physical king or queen.  There is no heir to the throne in our governing system.  Because of how our society theoretically works, all are equal, and no one has an absolute right to rule.  The closest example that comes to me is the family framework.  A thought comes to my mind regarding my childhood.  Disrespect by children was not tolerated in my home, but this incident involving my younger sister only rendered her a reprimand and not a full punishment.  One of my father’s friends was at the house, no doubt intoxicated, and was trying to get my sister who was approximately 5 years old, to do something she didn’t want to do.  Evidently, he used a stern voice and repeated his command hoping to exhibit authority over her.  My sister’s response was “You’re not my father!”  I think my mother was soft in her response to my sister because she agreed with her and did not like this friend ordering her daughter around like he had some rights in our household. That authority was reserved for my father and not just anybody could command that level of respect.
