Solomon’s Recipe for a Whimp – Part One

So, how did Solomon, a man full of so much wisdom, turn into a whimp?

The queen of Sheba saw Solomon as God's gift to women.  Well, actually as God's gift to Israel because of his love for Israel.  She saw it as a happy privilege for his servants to be in the position of hearing his wisdom continually.  She had been told a lot about Solomon's wisdom and prosperity, but it didn't compare to what she actually experienced when she came to visit him.

As we examine what changed in Solomon's life we will see that his DESIRE got him in trouble.  Solomon fell in love with love.  For surely, he could not have loved seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines.  But the Bible tells us that he 'clave unto these in love'.  What void was Solomon trying to fill?  What did that kind of life promise him?  Satisfaction? Pleasure? DECEPTION!  That life delivered nothing, but instead the women turned his heart after other gods when he was old. It revealed his heart.  He did not have a "perfect heart" as did his father, David.  Therefore DECEIT characterized his heart.

...............................DESIRE                                                                                                                    ................................................DECEPTION                                                                                        ...........................................................................DECEIT

A downward tumble indeed.
